New Features and Enhancements
COMPRESS 2013 includes many new capabilities as well as hundreds of enhancements. Below are a few highlights. Sign In To The Support Center to view the full change list.
Codeware Interface
We are pleased to introduce the Codeware Interface, a bridge between COMPRESS and Autodesk Inventor® or SolidWorks®. Design data can now be transferred to either software package along with the COMPRESS solid model. Once your COMPRESS design has been imported, use Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks to quickly:
•repare high quality drawings using styles that you control
•Create a bill of materials (BOM)
•erform further analysis of the model
The Codeware Interface is an add-in to either Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks. Once installed, it imports the 3D solid model geometry and design details from your COMPRESS file. Unlike legacy 2D data transfer solutions, the Codeware Interface supports the new 3D solid modeling tools. This gives you greater control over how you use your model.
The Codeware Interface is available at no additional cost provided that your COMPRESS support is current. Three (3) Codeware Interface licenses are included with each single user license. Five (5) Codeware Interface licenses are included with each network and enterprise network license. COMPRESS 2013 is required to use the Codeware Interface.
Full User Defined Materials Support (ASME VIII Div. 1 and 2)
A new user defined material option is now available for Division 1 and Division 2 that provides the ability to specify a full material definition comparable to ASME materials in ASME Section II Part D. Full material definitions are treated the same as ASME materials and contain all of the material properties and data required to complete all of the Code checks currently performed. They may be added to the subset of materials shown in the component material drop downs and also appear in the ASME materials dialog. Full user defined materials may be used to create material definitions from older Codes or for materials approved by ASME Code Cases. The material database has been extended to include external pressure charts for Code Cases 2146, 2244-2, 2245, 2404-1, 2430, 2458-3, 2497-3, 2532-4, 2671, 2717.
A full user defined material definition can be created by selecting the menu option Materials > Full User Defined Materials , or by clicking the User Defined button and selecting Full User Defined when creating a component. Separate material definitions are maintained for U.S. Customary and metric designs. The units of the material definition corresponds to the current units setting in the open file. When switching a file that uses a full user defined material from U.S. Customary to metric, or vice versa, the metric or U.S. Customary definition is automatically created if an existing definition with the same name does not already exist. When loading files with full user defined materials that do not exist in the current database, a warning will ask whether to add the full user defined material to the current database.
The original user defined material feature, now referred to as simple user defined material, is still available but not recommended as certain checks are not performed due to the lack of information. One example is that the UHA-51 impact test check is not performed for a high alloy steel simple user defined material. Simple user defined materials can be converted to full user defined materials by clicking on the Convert to Full User Defined Material button in the User Defined Material dialog and the existing data will be populated in the Full User Defined Material dialog. However, the material will still need some properties to be specified in order to complete a full user defined material definition.
The Ability to Perform FEA on Nozzles Attached to Bolted Covers
FEA Analysis may now be run for nozzles attached to bolted covers. When the flanged connection is not a full faced gasket type, the gasket seating and operating load moments are taken into account.
New HTML Report Sorting Options
New display options are now available in the HTML report index; these options include sorting component reports by type or location and sorting nozzle reports by their drawing tags. Previously, HTML reports were always grouped by type.
