There are two types of welds mentioned in the attached drawing.
Back Weld --------------- - First fill the groove, then backchip theroot and deposit weld metal to get CJP.
Backing Weld ------------------ - First deposit weld metal from other side (opposite side of groove), then backchip from groove side and fill the grooveto get CJP.
Note: - Above mentioned welds have no connection to backing strip weld or backing bar weld.
'' A backweld is defined as a weld made at the back of a single groove weld while abacking weld is defined as backing in the form of a weld. Despite havingidentical symbols, it is stated that the sequence of welding determines which designationapplies. Back weld is notably made after the groove weld while backing weld ismade before the groove weld. ''
