GUIDELINES FOR MECHANICAL INTEGRITY SYSTEMS
Mechanical integrity (MI) is a product of many activities, usually performed by many people. When these activities are done well, MI can provide the foundation for a safe, reliable facility that minimizes threats to the environment, the public, and the workforce. These factors, as well as regulatory drivers, provide ample motivation for ensuring appropriate MI. Simply put, quality MI is consistent with
good business practices.
Quality MI is an integrated product of proper equipment, dependable human performance, and effective management systems. Guidelines for Mechanical Integrity Systems (MI Guidelines) walks the reader through the development, implementation, and continual improvement of an MI program that includes these areas of focus. Behind these focus areas must be an involved, supportive management. These guidelines also include advice to those supporting the program.
